11U Wins 6th Tourney at Cincy Flames Classic

Congratulations boys! The Cincy Flames Classic featured over 32 teams from all over the region.  The unique format of the tournament began with a victory over the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs on Thursday with Friday play resulting in wins over the Ohio Extreme and Louisville Spikes on Friday.  On Saturday morning, the team defeated the Midland Sluggers in the “crossover” game.  Championship Sunday began with a victory over the Cincy Stix in the quarterfinals.  The semifinal game was an absolute battle versus the Indiana Blazers.  In the championship, the boys got out to an early lead and were able to weather the storm from the Upper Deck Cougars.  Momentum swung back and forth but the coaching staff and players possessed the resolve to win the championship.

iXL Ironmen 9u Win Flames Classic 20-4

The 9u iXL Ironmen explode for 16 runs during the 3rd inning to win the Flames Summer Classic in Cincinnati, OH.  Seven iXL Ironmen batters combined for 14 hits, 12 RBI’s, and 16 runs scored.  Holden Groher recorded the win on the bump.  He allowed only two runs over three innings.  The team went 3-0 in pool play.  The pool play record earned the iXL Ironmen one of the 8 seeds in the tournament.  The quarterfinal game was an 11-3 victory over the Indianapolis Hurricanes followed by the semi-final win over Indiana Bulls Black (6-2).  Left to right are Luke Vick, Nick Sexton, Tucker Biven, Dominic Decker, Austin Oppel, and Gavin Seebold.  The second row is Holden Groher, LT Hatton, Brooks Thompson, David Newbanks, and Andrew Snider.  The back row are Coach John Seebold,  Manager Joe Decker, and Coach Josh Biven.   Their record improves to 30-2 on the season.

11U Ironmen Capture Their 8th Tourney and BPA World Series Ring

What a way to close out a successful season!  Two weeks ago the 11U swept the BPA Super State for their 7th championship and qualified for the BPA World Series.  The World Series took place in Battle Creek, MI over 5 days.  The format was double elimination, but the boys never ventured into the loser’s bracket.  The boys relied on excellent pitching, superb defense and timely hitting to prevail.  The bats were not red hot the entire weekend but were hot when they needed to be.  Many thanks to all the parents and coaches for a great tourney and great year.  More than once the coaching staff and boys were commended on what excellent stewards of baseball they were the entire tournament, many were impressed with the Proverbs passage on the sleeve, and the overall demeanor of the team.

Chris Burke Baseball joins forces with Ironmen Baseball Club

As another baseball season draws to an end I hope that you and your son had a great season and made some lasting memories.  The game of baseball is a special game that allows for tremendous growth both physically and mentally.  As hard as it might be to think about next year, I want to encourage you to do so.  The reality of competitive baseball today is that it is year round and the end of summer marks the beginning of “next year” so to speak.  I say all this to inform you about the Ironmen Baseball Organization that I have decided to join forces with.  My time home over the last two years has taught me that the city of Louisville is arguably the most disjointed youth baseball city in America. Up to this point there is no established organization that is the unquestioned place where the area’s finest baseball players train, practice, get instruction, and ultimately compete at the highest level of their age group. That is about to change.  This email serves as an official announcement that the Louisville Baseball Center, The Ironmen, and Chris Burke Baseball have all joined forces to give the Kentuckiana area its first nationally competitive travel baseball organization.

The Ironmen have just completed their first year of competition and were successful at 6 different age groups.  While the Ironmen were started as a Southern Indiana group now the organization will become a place where the best players from both sides of the river can develop and compete.

This is in no way a business venture for me.  This is a non profit organization that is in the business of helping kids reach their goals in the game of baseball.  The organization is lead by Mark Peters a baseball man who has 18 years of experience in the elite competitive youth baseball world.  His experience and relationships in this field are a huge asset to any family that is apart of the Ironmen organization.  Also, he has created an organization that has great core values and desires to teach players about much more than just playing the game.  For these reasons and more, I am putting my stamp of approval on the Ironmen as the “place” for all of the area’s best players to play.  I will be associated with the organization in many ways, and I am excited about being able to serve as a mentor and resource to the players, parents, and coaches of this great organization.

Tryouts will be held August 18 and 19 at St.Matthews.We will have teams from 9u to 17u. Here is the link to the Ironmen website,  and the online registration

I have been blessed to play the game of baseball at every level and accomplish many of my dreams.  I have played all over the world, competed in both the College and Major League World Series, and had the opportunity to play with some Hall of Fame players.  My hope is that through the Ironmen Baseball Organization your son will be able to achieve his dreams in the game of baseball as well.  Together we can do great things!

8U Ironmen Claim Halloween Havoc Championship

The 8U Ironmen won the 9th Annual Halloween Havoc Tournament in Owensboro, KY. This was only the team’s 2nd tournament ever playing together. They put together a great hitting display in winning the tournament, including beating the Bowling Green Bulldogs 12-0 in the championship game. Congrats to Coach Joe Ledbetter and the 8u Ironmen on this tournament win!

Chris Burke Baseball

With Christmas break approaching, Chris Burke Baseball wants to inform you that we will be hosting our annual winter hitting clinics starting in just a few weeks.  The baseball season is right around the corner and this is the perfect time to take advantage of our two day hitting camps. Our camps focus on fundamental batting instruction, while fostering an atmosphere of competitiveness.  Also, we pride ourselves on our low player to coach ratio.  With 1 professional player/instructor per every 5 campers, each boy will be guaranteed quality high level instruction. For those of you who have attended our camps in the past, we will have the same fun learning environment you have become accustomed to, with some new aspects. We now offer a video swing analysis of every player. All campers will leave with a better understanding of their own swing. Every participant will receive a Chris Burke Baseball performance t-shirt with registration. We will be having two sets of open registration camps. They are each two day camps. They will be held on December 26/27 and January 2/3. For each camp, there will be a session for kids ages 7-12 from 9am-12pm and a teenage session from 1pm-4pm. The cost of each 2 day camp is $125. All registration will done through our new website, . Come down to the Louisville Baseball Center at 2041 River Road to have fun, see the new improvements to our facility, and most importantly, become a better player.
